Hi Everybody!

Well, here we are at the dawn of a new season! We had a well attended meeting on 2nd February at the Weavers Arms, Fillongley. Perhaps the tempting offer of a nice meal before the meeting was a good incentive…? But either way, it was nice to see you all.

The calendar for the forthcoming season was under discussion and we have managed to put together a full season of varied events, hopefully, with something to suit everyone.

We will be kicking off our calendar of events with a social evening at the Weavers Arms, Fillongley on Wednesday 16th March for a nice meal and a chat. Please book your places with me by Wednesday 9th March. It’s 7.00pm for 7.30pm and the menu is attached to this newsletter. Just to confirm my contact details: mobile 07879 286 390 or email lindawiggin94@yahoo.com.

We have also included our full calendar as well as events from other clubs near our area so please support them as well if you can.

Here’s hoping for a full and happy season of driving!

Linda

Club meetings and Socials

Christmas Meal. 7th December 2021 @ The Cottage Inn

Vicky Parry organised a fantastic festive get together for us all which was very well attended and where we welcomed a new member, Jackie Hill to the club.

Vicky was her usual cheeky self, having taken the raffle around the whole pub. Despite most of the prizes going to non-members, we did raise a lot of money for the club. Thank you Vicky for all your efforts!

Festive Treasure Hunt. 29th December 2021 @ Hallaton

Caroline’s Christmas Treasure Hunt is now a regular fixture these days and it’s always an enjoyable day where you can get to drive around some lovely lanes as well as testing your grey matter!

The weather wasn’t looking very hopeful at the start of the day but by the time it came to move off, it had greatly improved and it was good to see other people joining in in their cars and bikes. Peter and Emma both had to be rescued when they suffered punctures but even our treasurer, Jeanette, enjoyed a day out with Ken and a pair of ponies.

Of course, there were compulsory mince pies at the end of the day and a big thank you to Caroline for all her hard work setting up such a great day.

And now for something completely different…

We have had a wonderful ‘vintage’ spare kit donated to the club from a friend of Carl Warrilow’s which is to be sold to raise money for the club.

This kit is a beautiful brown leather roll, complete with all tools and fittings. It would need a little oiling, but all the leather work and tools are in very good order. It would suit perhaps or horse or large pony turnout as it is very substantial. As club members, you have the first refusal to buy this and if you are interested, please submit your offer to Linda via email by 1st March 2022, best offer secures!

Congratulations to…

Raisebeck Cappuccino who is National Fell Pony Society carriage driving champion for 2021 and his chum, Greenholme George who stands reserve!

Please arrive early if you are planning on having a meal.

Important Information – For members who would usually get to the Weavers Arms via the B4102 (Fillongley Road) from Meriden, this road is closed until August due to repairs to the bridge over the A45. Please follow the local diversion signs rather than the Highway Agency signs as the local diversion is much shorter. If you need any further information please contact Linda.
