There was a time when the arrival of a Corona delivery was a welcome sight!
Strange Times…
Well, what a pickle we now find ourselves in! Due to the current situation with Coronavirus/COVID-19, obviously all events are postponed (not cancelled!) until further notice. This includes social events and meetings too.
We will keep everyone updated should the situation change and please follow Facebook and our website for immediate updates. Those who rely on snail mail will not be forgotten and our best way to contact you will be by text or good old fashioned phone.
The most important thing at this point in time is that you and your families and loved ones stay safe and healthy and follow the Government advice (though it’s shocking how many think it doesn’t apply to them!).
Events will be organised as soon as is feasibly possible, some perhaps at short notice but we will try and stay with dates that are already set and add in more to make up for lost events.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
Annual Meal and Awards
On a much brighter note, our Annual Awards and meal night on 14th March was brilliantly organised by Caroline at a great venue, Whitacre Hall Tea Rooms. This is a lovely lakeside log cabin with a roaring log fire. The room was full with over 30 guests and there was fab homemade food and plenty of it.
After the meal, it was awards time, presented by our chairman, Ken. Our vice chair, Marian needed a box to carry home her haul which included Club Champion. Team Young also took away several gongs, Linda got the Open Trials with Darren 2nd plus King of the Cones title. Clare Marley took Most Stylish Whip, Craig Triggs took Best Newcomer, Millie-Mae got the Junior title and the ‘Nearly’ Trophy. Mary Fuller was awarded the Most Improved Dressage. In the grooms league, Toby won competition groom and ‘Don’t Do That/Stop It/Put That Down’ George took the beginners with Linda. Will we see George and Cappa as a multiple this year…who knows…?
A huge thank you to everyone who donated fabulous raffle prizes including the gift-wrapped loo roll, the lucky winner being Marian and we are yet to confirm if Steve did actually put this on EBay!
Photos from the night can be seen on the clubs Facebook page.
Extra Congrats…
To Linda and Cappuccino who finally won the National Fell Pony Carriage Driving Champion in 2019 after several years of being 2nd! George got 3rd too. It may be a while before she actually gets her award due to the AGM being postponed.
A Big Thank You
To Sally Ashwin for all of her hard work over the past few years as editor of the newsletter, she has had to step down due to work and home commitments. We really want to say a big thank you and hope that she will still come along and see us from time to time.
Linda has stepped in as Editor for the time being (her secretary and PA Fiona doing the typing and compiling and grimacing) so please send details of any results, news, anything (can be non-horse related!) to Linda at lindawiggin94@yahoo.co.uk or 07879 286390
Congrats to all members who had qualified for the Indoor finals at Keysoe, notably Emma and Millie-Mae. Let’s hope that this can be re-arranged!
We can but hope to see you all very soon, stay safe and well,
Linda
Please keep us updated with your news and results throughout the year.
Next Newsletter is planned for June 2020
