Well, who can believe that we are three parts of the way through the 2019 season already! But we still have plenty of events in the calendar to go…. Don’t forget tolook on the website and facebook for updates.
Events so far ……….
Thursday 13th June, we had our annual quiz nite and supper. Held at the Weavers Arms, Fillongley. Brilliantly organised by our treasurer, Jeanette Mils. The room was filled to capacity & some. A very jovial and thought provoking night. Very little divided the teams. In first place where the Double Duns Team (Bob & Pol Thompson & the Young Family), not far behind was the Also Rans (Chris, Keith, Anne, Betty,Mick & Linda), followed by Steptoe & Sons, Wrights Chickens and the Hoof Picks. Many thanks to Jeanette and Maggie for a lovely well organised evening.
Sadly we lost the first Anslow event to the very inclement weather, ie torrential rain for at least a week prior to the 15th June which rendered the course waterlogged.
Then we had to cancel the treasure hunt on 30th June, due to lack of support . These events take a lot of time and effort to put together, in this instance Caroline took up the reins to organise it. We only had one competitor so it was not viable to go ahead. Please support the one on the 28th September or the committee will have to consider taking these events out of the calendar.
Sunday 14th July – was a training day at Anslow, with a small ODE thrown into the mix to make it more interest. Once again we had a full house a good two weeks before the close of entries. Stuart Roberts did the honours for us on the dressage phase . Many thanks to all our stewards who gave up their free time to help us. The standard was very good and we hope it will carry on improving. Non member John White took the honours with his

lovely hackney mare in the novice. Linda and the “Thug” were a close 2nd at his 1stdriving event. Emma with her brilliant pony team took the multiples/open with Linda & Cappa 2nd. Closely followed by Darren Wall and Elizabeth Greensmith.

We can now confirm the venue for the Indoor/Outdoor trial on the 22nd September. This will take place at Solihull Riding Club. Entries to Linda Wiggin.
Time for something different…..
That brave soul Sarah Bartlett and her wonderful fell pony Billy (Waverhead Bombadere) are about to under take a coast to coast challenge from Southport to Hornsea on the 23rd – 31st August 2019 to support MacMillan Cancer Support. They will be trekking the 215 mile trans pennine trial to raise money for the charity. Sarah has had several members of her family receive support for MacMillan. “Billy” will be ridden and driven on this epic journey.
