Well here we are at the end of a very difficult year. Lets hope that 2021 will bring happier times.

It is with great sadness that we have to report that Dave West, the long time chairman of Midland
Carriage Driving passed away after a short illness bravely bourne. Dave and his wife, Lesley, were ‘Mr
and Mrs Midland’ for many years. He was also chairman of British Carriage Driving for 2 years. His
boundless enthusiasm for the sport will be greatly missed. It was very sad that due to the current
situation so many of us were unable to pay our last respects. Watching the service on ‘zoom’ was
not quite the same. Our condolences to Lesley and family.
On Wednesday the 4th November our AGM was held on ‘zoom’. It was good to see that at least 10
members appeared on screen.
This showed that despite having so few events we made a small profit. This was due to the
generosity of Team Young and Olive allowing us to have events at their homes. There is still a
deposit of £90 in hand at Solihull R.C.
Ken reported that we had managed to keep the flag flying and that the club is in a stable financial
It was decided that subscriptions should stay the same for 2021. Ken attended the BC Affiliated
Clubs Meeting on ‘zoom’ and it is hoped that we may have a discount on our affiliation fee for 2021
due to the lack of events this year.

The AGM drew to a close at 8.45pm. After a short break we continued with the club meeting.
Through the winter months it is hoped to have some talks on ‘zoom’. If anyone has any suggestions
for topics for talks please let us know.
Get well wishes to our President, Keith, who has recently undergone surgery. We look forward to

The Indoor season kicked off at Moreton Morrell with a big entry on Sunday October 11th, but then
was brought to a halt by our second lockdown. Here’s hoping we can get up and running again for
