Well, here we are! A new season beckons. A very happy new year to you all.The committee have been hard at work putting together a calendar of events. Some venues are yet to be confirmed but dates have been set and we just hope that things will dry out soon and we can look forward to a good season.
Les SmithOn a sad note, we have to report that one of our founder members, former president and Chairman, Les Smith, passed away before Christmas. Les was in at the very start of the club alongwiththeLateGeorgeRawlins. Theclubwasstartedtokeepalivethetraditionsof carriage driving. Les was also very involved with the Birmingham Harness Horse Parade which was held at Cannon Hill Park. Our condolences to his wife, June and family.
Seems along time ago doesn’t it? Our Christmas meal was held at the Cottage Inn, Fillongley on 30th November. Some 20+ members, family and friends enjoyed excellent Christmas fayre in a very festive atmosphere. Many thanks to Vicky for organising a brilliant evening!

The next event will be an Indoor Outdoor Trial, hopefully at Solihull Riding Club on 24th May (TBC), training and advice will be available on cones and obstacles at this competition too.
Wednesday 3rd June we will be holding a Vets Talk at Fillongley Social Club, Ousterne Lane, Fillongley. 7pm for 7.30pm. Speaker will be Mr Gil Riley from Poolhouse vets. Full details will follow.
Team Young have very generously offered Hallaton again for a cones and obstacles training day on Saturday 20th June. We had planned a two day training & competition weekend, however, the Birmingham Velo Event on Sunday 21st June means that we cannot go ahead with the second day. Backstepper training will be available at this event.
The fun trial for 12th July, venue TBC but hopefully we can confirm shortly.
Olive has her annual fun day at Barfield Farm on Sunday 30th August with a wonderful tea afterwards.
September, we return to Hallaton on Sunday 13th September for a fun trial and then also for a ‘Pub Drive’ on Sunday 4th October where you can drive individually or as a group to meet up at the Rose Inn at Baxterley for drinks and sandwiches.
Club meetings are now held at Hallaton due to the few members that seem to turn up! Dates are 7th Oct and 4th Nov (AGM).
The Festive Treasure Hunt – 29th December
Caroline organised a very festive treasure hunt and the weather was kind to us and we had a lovely drive around the lanes of Nether Whitacre. There were many thought proving clues!
Linda won best fancy dress but wasn’t on form due to suffering with a virus (NOT Corona!) but Emma won (she did a great alternative Christmas carol!) with Peter second. Many thanks to Caroline for a great event!
Talking of Treasure Hunts…
Unfortunately no treasure/ scavenger hunts are planned for this year due to the poor support. Both events were cancelled last year due to only one person coming forward. It takes a lot of work to put these events together but as always, if anyone would like to have a go at organising one, please contact a committee member.
*Subscriptions are now due!*
Trophies are due to be returned too! If you have any silver ware to be returned, please contact Linda to arrange to return it. She will be at Moreton Morrell Indoor in March.
Good luck to all of our members who have qualified for the Indoor Finals at Keysoe in April.
Please keep us updated with your news and results throughout the year.
